International Aid Brings Relief to Flood Victims

Kathmandu: Following last week's devastating flash floods and landslides, international aid has been pouring into Nepal from various countries, including India, China, Japan, the United States, and South Korea.

On August 26, a catastrophic landslide struck the China-Nepal border region. According to a press release issued by the Nepal Police on Wednesday evening, the death toll from the disaster in Nepal has reached 1,222.

The assistance sent by international donor agencies and various countries includes immediately needed supplies such as drones, DNA testing equipment and reagents, water purification devices, and lighting equipment. The aid also includes food items, medicines, and other essential supplies.

Because the road network has been severely damaged, relief materials are being delivered to flood-affected communities via helicopters.

Temporary shelters have been set up in schools for those affected by the disaster. Various aid organizations are also providing food and other essential supplies to the victims.

Srijana Sah, a local resident affected by the disaster, shared, "When we had our own home, we could cook and eat proper meals. But now we have to live on the street, so cooking like that isn't an option. People are bringing us food, and that's what we are eating. If they hadn't distributed food, we would have gone hungry. I would like to request everyone to please help us. Any support would be immensely appreciated."

Volunteers from around the world have also arrived in Nepal to assist those affected by the disaster. Dr. Zhang Haijing, who arrived from China with his team to provide medical care, has been treating survivors suffering from common health issues such as fever, skin conditions, and body aches.

Dr. Zhang said, "Skin problems are very common after a disaster. Sometimes we also see issues like stomachaches, upper respiratory tract infections, sprains, injuries, skin bleeding, and open wounds."

Amid the aftermath of the floods and landslides, thousands of displaced people are attempting to rebuild their lives and adjust to new realities in temporary shelters.

Despite the difficult circumstances, they feel a sense of relief simply knowing that they and their loved ones are safe. (CCTV Plus)
