Koshi Hospital Protects Land by Removing Encroachments; Boundary Wall to Be Constructed
Koshi Hospital, located in the country's second-largest city, Biratnagar, has intensified its campaign to reclaim and protect encroached government land. Following the deployment of bulldozers last Monday to demolish illegal structures built inside the hospital premises, management announced plans to immediately construct a boundary wall to secure the cleared area.
The hospital's Medical Superintendent (MS), Dr. Chandra Bhal Jha, stated that removing these structures was crucial for implementing the hospital's long-term master plan and expanding healthcare services. The hospital owns more than five bighas of land at the site.
Dr. Jha shared that a wall will be built without delay to secure the hospital's reclaimed land. "We will fence the area to keep the hospital's land safe. Following that, infrastructure development will proceed systematically according to the master plan," he said.
According to him, the ministry and the concerned minister are actively supporting the implementation of the hospital's expansion project. The hospital aims to utilize the land for expanding specialist services, constructing new buildings, and developing modern healthcare infrastructure in the future.
Dr. Jha noted that while most commercial shutters were demolished by the bulldozers, the core structures of the Nepal Tuberculosis Association, the Nepal Red Cross Society’s blood bank, the Devkota Library, and the Ganesh Temple have been left intact for the time being.
He explained that some of these structures were not immediately removed because they are directly linked to the hospital's emergency and essential services. However, he clarified that as the hospital's master plan progresses, these facilities will eventually be managed and relocated to completely clear the hospital's land.
