Nepal Insurance Authority Organizes Awareness Program at Janata Namuna Secondary School

Biratnagar. An interaction and discussion program on insurance has been completed with teachers and students of Janata Namuna Secondary School located in Biratnagar-2, organized by the Nepal Insurance Authority, Koshi Province Office.

In the program organized with the aim of increasing public awareness about insurance, Rajendra Maharjan, Head of the Nepal Insurance Authority Koshi Province Office, stated that because insurance is an important medium for reducing financial risk, all citizens should come under the scope of insurance. 

He shared the view that awareness needs to be raised in the general community regarding the importance and benefits of insurance, as well as the current state of insurance in Nepal. He said that although insurance is necessary to receive financial support during times of risk, citizens themselves must be aware while taking insurance. 

He mentioned that everyone should get insurance to rise above the damages occurring during risk and disasters in the community, whether for life or non-life insurance, through their own ways within their families and communities.

He stated that insurance provides financial protection from risks arising to life and property as well as helps in risk mitigation, and informed that along with life insurance, insurance can also be done for homes, agriculture, and livestock. 

He requested to get insurance only after thoroughly understanding the plans, rules, and terms of the relevant company. During the program, the Principal of Janata Namuna Secondary School, Chintamani Rijal, stated that although every family needs insurance to reduce financial risks, many citizens still hesitate to get insurance due to a lack of sufficient information about it.

Answering questions raised during the program, Rajendra Maharjan, Koshi Province Head of the Nepal Insurance Authority, emphasized that one must develop the habit of saving from earned income for future risks prior to the occurrence of risk. 

About 80 students studying in classes 8, 9, and 11, along with teachers of the school, participated in the program. The program was conducted by Milan Pokharel, Assistant First of the Nepal Insurance Authority Koshi Province Office.
