Namuna College to Donate Rs. 505,055 to Bhotekoshi Flood Relief

Biratnagar: Namuna College, located in Itahari, has decided to provide Rs. 505,055 in support of relief and rescue efforts for citizens affected by the Bhotekoshi flood.

The college decided to provide the assistance with the objective of contributing to the relief efforts for affected citizens through educational institutions during times of national disaster.

A meeting of the college’s Board of Directors held on Friday decided to deposit the amount into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support flood victims, said Keshav Khadka, chairman of the college’s Board of Directors.

According to Khadka, the Rs. 505,055 announced by the college will be deposited into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund on Saturday itself. “We decided to provide this assistance with the aim of making at least a small contribution from the college during this national disaster,” Chairman Khadka said.

He said the decision was also intended to convey the message that the education sector should not be limited to teaching and learning alone, but should also take the initiative to fulfill its social responsibility during disasters and crises affecting society.

Namuna College said it has taken the initiative to become the first educational institution in Koshi Province to provide institutional support during a national disaster.

The devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River has caused significant loss of life and property in areas including Rasuwa, while many citizens remain missing.

Government agencies, security forces, the private sector, educational institutions, and various organizations are currently providing support at their respective levels for the search, rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of people affected by the flood.

As part of these efforts, Namuna College has also decided to contribute funds to the relief fund as part of its social responsibility.
