Everest School Organizes Seminar to Make Parents Smart
Bhaktapur,September 19 – Many people may know that schools try to make their students smart. However, a school in Bhaktapur has planned not only to make students smart but also their parents. According to this plan, Everest School organized a “Parents’ Seminar” on Friday. The school stated that the seminar was aimed at making parents smarter.
During the program, Everest School’s founder and principal, Bhakta Raj Bhandari, emphasized the need to respond thoughtfully to any situation. He noted that the tradition of reacting hastily to children’s issues should be abandoned.
He said, “In Nepal, the tradition is to slap a child if they fall while walking on the street. This should not be done; instead, we should show love to the child.” He urged parents to move away from such traditions. He explained that giving quick reactions or decisions in children’s matters is inappropriate. Parents should first try to understand deeply why the child fell before responding.
At the program, Everest School’s vice principal, Sangita Kiwachen Banepali, said that to solve students’ problems, parents must first listen to their children. “A counselor is someone who listens more before giving advice,” she added. “For this reason, parents should give advice only after fully listening to their children.”
She further explained that for young children, the home acts as the first school, and parents themselves serve as the first counselors. Therefore, it is necessary for parents to play the role of a smart and thoughtful guardian.
