Awareness Rally Organized by 'New Thinking and Discovery Campaign' for Transformation

Kathmandu. The 'New Thinking and Discovery Campaign for Transformation' organized an awareness rally in the capital on Wednesday. The campaign asserted that the country has failed to move toward expected development due to outdated thinking, policies, and leadership, sending a message that not just elections, but new thinking and new discovery are now necessary.

According to the campaign, although governments changed after every election held since 2047 B.S, the failure to change the system of governance, mindset, and intent prevented any real transformation in public life.

The campaign stated that while political changes seemed to occur, the lack of economic prosperity, development, and job creation has forced Nepalis to go abroad in search of work.

Speakers at the awareness rally clarified that the objective of 'New Thinking and Discovery' is not to capture power, but to redirect power toward the people. They expressed the view that political parties participating in upcoming elections must commit to the public with a clear five-year action plan and provide an account of those plans' completion after five years.

The campaign noted that while agriculture, tourism, hydropower, and information technology are considered the pillars of Nepal's economic development, these sectors have remained neglected after every election.

The campaign's main demands include creating jobs within the country, ending political nepotism and middlemen, establishing universities at home, and creating an investment-friendly environment.

According to the concept presented at the rally, while power has changed hands after elections, the system has remained stagnant, bringing neither development nor change.

Stating that such a situation is no longer acceptable, the campaign put forward demands for investment based on local capital, alternatives to foreign employment, increased agricultural production, tourism development, tax system reform, fast-track highways connecting villages and cities, health posts with at least five beds in every local level, the start of practical education, and free medical treatment for the elderly over 67 years of age.

The campaign concluded that old thinking, policies, and faces have failed to change the country, development has remained limited to slogans, and corruption, impunity, and mismanagement have weakened the state's credibility.

Highlighting that the country is becoming devoid of potential as the youth are forced to go abroad, the campaign stated its objective is to raise public awareness against these issues, hold the government accountable, and search for new alternatives.

The campaign expressed its commitment to delivering a clear message against corruption and the abuse of power for good governance and accountability, involving youth, intellectuals, and general citizens actively in the transformation process, and putting forward demands for reform through non-violent and democratic means.
