Governor Labh Highlights Federalism as Equitable Distribution of Rights and Opportunities
Janakpur. Madhesh Province Governor Surendra Labh Karna has stated that federalism represents the equitable distribution of rights and opportunities.
Speaking at the 8th anniversary ceremony of the Madhesh Provincial Assembly on Wednesday, Governor Labh expressed the view that federalism is not merely the division of geography.
He said that federalism is a provincial structure designed to bring the authority of Singha Durbar to the doorsteps of the people. Governor Labh remarked that the beauty of democracy lies in the people making laws for themselves through their representatives.
Governor Labh mentioned that the leadership role played by the Madhesh Provincial Assembly in implementing federalism while navigating various ups and downs over the past eight years is commendable. He stated that the wisdom and consensus shown by the Madhesh Provincial Assembly in naming the province and selecting the capital serves as an example of political maturity.
Governor Labh emphasized that the Provincial Assembly should be known not just as a place for making laws, but as a center for solving the problems of the people. He said that for the creation of a prosperous Madhesh, all parties must understand that the people sent them to the Provincial Assembly solely for the purpose of development.
Governor Labh stressed that while keeping the self-respect of Madhesh Province high, all residents and representatives of the province should work toward making the province economically prosperous and socially inclusive.
At the eighth anniversary ceremony, Madhesh Province MP Ram Saroj Yadav was honored as the outstanding parliamentarian.
