Energy Minister Assures All Resources Deployed for Bhote Koshi Rescue Operations

Kathmandu. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has said that the government has given top priority to the search and rescue of employees, workers, and common people missing after the Bhote Koshi flood, and is mobilizing all available resources. 

He mentioned that achieving expected success has been difficult due to adverse weather conditions and challenging geographical terrain.

Meeting with the family members of the missing employees at the ministry, Minister Shrestha stated that the government is leaving no stone unturned for the rescue efforts. He said that providing regular, accurate, and reliable information to the affected families about the rescue situation during a crisis is an important responsibility of the state.

He said, "I am feeling the pain of not being able to contact loved ones. Every second is crucial for us. The government has left no stone unturned to protect the lives of citizens and employees. However, due to circumstances beyond control, it is difficult for the government to do many things even if it wants to."

The ministry stated that after the flood, it has been working through various commands and action mechanisms by mobilizing available resources for rescue, coordination, and rehabilitation. 

Minister Shrestha said that although rescue operations have been intensified in coordination with security agencies, expected achievements could not be made due to the difficult terrain and risks.

At the central level, the minister is leading inter-ministerial coordination, facilitation, and necessary resource management. 

The secretary of the ministry, the executive director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, and other high-ranking officials are working on the ground to handle rescue, rehabilitation, coordination, and resource mobilization.
