Nepal to Face Canada in Final World Cup Warm-up Match Today

Kathmandu: In the final stages of preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup, Nepal is playing its last practice match against Canada today. Boosted by a seven-wicket victory over the UAE, the Nepali team aims to enter the World Cup with high confidence by securing a win against Canada.

The match between Nepal and Canada will begin at 1:15 PM at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Nepal showed positive signs by easily defeating the UAE in their first practice match on Tuesday. After gaining experience from warm-up matches played in India and Sri Lanka leading up to the tournament, Nepal is treating this game against Canada as its final test.

Nepal will begin its World Cup journey on February 8 against England. Placed in Group C, this World Cup represents a historic opportunity for Nepal, as they will compete against powerhouse teams like two-time world champion West Indies and former champion England. Scotland and Italy are also in the same group.

According to the schedule, Nepal will play Italy on February 12, the West Indies on February 15, and Scotland on February 17. This will be the first time Nepal plays international cricket against England and Italy. All group-stage matches will be held in Mumbai, where tickets for all of Nepal's matches have already been sold out in advance.

Playing in the World Cup for the third time after 2014 and 2024, Nepal aims to create new history in this edition. Led by Captain Rohit Paudel, the Nepali team, featuring a blend of youth and experience, has expressed its commitment to playing for a hundred percent result.

Intense competition is also expected in other World Cup groups among giant teams like India, Pakistan, Australia, and South Africa. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Eight stage.
