Disasters Block Key Sections of Main Highways
Kathmandu. Floods and landslides have disrupted traffic across various main highway and road sections in different parts of the country. According to details updated as of 6:45 AM on Saturday, vehicular movement remains affected along several road stretches in Rasuwa, Manang, Myagdi, and Nawalparasi East.
In Rasuwa, all roads along the main highway have been completely blocked due to flooding since 10:30 AM on August 26. Authorities stated that these roads will not reopen until further notice.
In Manang of Gandaki Province, the Besisahar–Khangsar road section has been fully obstructed due to floods since September 24.
Similarly, in Myagdi, the Beni–Jomsom road stretch from Baisari (Raghuganga Rural Municipality-2) to Sukebagar (Annapurna Rural Municipality-3) has remained completely blocked by landslides since September 26.
In Nawalparasi East, landslides at Ghumaurighat in Bulingtar Rural Municipality-6 have restricted traffic on the Kaligandaki Corridor to one lane since September 26.
Likewise, another landslide on September 30 at Janti in Baudikali Rural Municipality-3 of Nawalparasi East has also reduced the Kaligandaki Corridor to one-way traffic, with heavy vehicles unable to operate along this section.
In Humla of Karnali Province, road movement has also been disrupted by landslides since September 28, though further details regarding the road condition are yet to be disclosed.
Concerned authorities are working to clear the obstructed roads. Passengers are advised to verify the latest road conditions before setting out on their journeys.
