6 Killed, 10 Injured in Passenger Bus Accident

Bhairahawa — Six people have died and ten others were injured when a passenger bus met with an accident at S-Mode in Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality-2 of Nawalparasi (East) along the East-West Highway.

According to police, the bus (Pradesh 3-01-006 Kha 1553) traveling from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu lost control and overturned into a roadside drain. Police reported that out of the 18 people on board, including the driver, six died in the crash, ten were injured, and two escaped unhurt. One of the deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Nirjung Khatri of Bheri Municipality-3, Jajarkot, while the identities of the remaining five victims are yet to be confirmed.

The injured individuals have been identified as 30-year-old Harisharan Thapa of Gorkha Municipality-9, 28-year-old Tejendra Prasad Bhandari of Mangalsen Municipality-6, Achham, 20-year-old Akriti of Thakurbaba Municipality-1, Bardiya, 32-year-old Pawan Budha of Swamikartik Rural Municipality-5, Bajura, and 28-year-old Sanjay Tharu of Rajapur Municipality-9, Bardiya. Also among the injured are 25-year-old Prem Bam of Swamikartik Rural Municipality-1, Bajura, 29-year-old Anoj Khatri of Kunjaya Sompak Rural Municipality-5, Lalitpur, 36-year-old Lal Bahadur Karki of Bansgadhi Municipality-7, Bardiya, 48-year-old Aslam Bhagwan of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-16, Banke, and 21-year-old Anil Budhathoki of Bangad Kupinde Municipality-1, Salyan.

Upon receiving news of the incident, a police team led by Police Inspector Thaman Singh Rana reached the scene. Police rescued the injured and transported them to Madhyabindu Provincial Hospital in Danda for treatment, and further investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway.
