Finance Minister’s Assurance to Families of Bhotekoshi–Rasuwa Flood Victims: ‘You Are Not Alone’
Kathmandu: Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has urged the families of customs officials who lost their lives or went missing in the Bhotekoshi–Rasuwa flood not to feel alone in this moment of grief.
During a collective meeting with the victimized family members at the ministry on Thursday, he stated that the Ministry of Finance and the customs administration stand together with them.
Expressing deep grief over losing capable customs employees assigned to duties in Rasuwa for revenue collection due to an unimaginable disaster, he said:
"The disaster, which struck without any scope for prior warning or alertness, has caused immense loss of life and property. We share the same pain and sorrow as you do. We are deeply saddened to lose capable members of our customs administration family. I cannot fully put into words the pain you are going through, but you are not alone. We stand with you."
Finance Minister Dr. Wagle also urged the family members to openly share their concerns with the ministry and the department. He assured them that the ministry and the department would prioritize and fulfill the family members' needs within legal frameworks. Upon receiving an initial memorandum prepared by the family members during the meeting, he stated that it would be implemented gradually.
