Bhotekoshi Flood Update: 1,455 Bodies Recovered

Kathmandu. As of 8:00 AM on Saturday, 1,455 bodies have been recovered following the devastating flood in Rasuwa's Bhotekoshi.

Out of these, 1,453 bodies were found across various districts: 236 in Rasuwa, 204 in Nuwakot, 73 in Dhading, 369 in Chitwan, 79 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 232 in Nawalparasi East, and 222 in Nawalparasi West. Additionally, 2 people passed away while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu.

To identify the recovered bodies, necessary procedures—including DNA sample collection—have been carried out, and 1,334 bodies have been managed (buried safely) so far. For body identification, a total of 3,406 DNA samples have been collected, including 1,330 from the deceased and 2,076 from relatives. Furthermore, details of 1,430 unidentified bodies have been uploaded to the Nepal Police website.

Currently, 7,975 police personnel have been deployed in the flood-affected areas for rescue, search, relief distribution, and body management. Search operations are ongoing for 4,718 people who remain missing. Meanwhile, 1,240 individuals are currently staying in holding centers across various districts.
