Culturally Rich Nepali Film ‘Ratyouli’ Officially Announced

Kathmandu — A new Nepali film titled Ratyouli, based on Nepal’s indigenous traditions, customs, and culture, has been officially announced. The film draws its name and inspiration from the traditional folk song Ratyouli, sung exclusively by women as a significant part of wedding rituals. As such, the project is expected to reflect strong cultural consciousness.

Presented by Ranjan Rijal, Ratyouli marks his debut as a film producer. Active in the music video industry since 2005/06 (B.S. 2062/63), Rijal has built a solid reputation by acting in hundreds of music videos.

The film will be directed by Muskan Dhakal, known for directing successful films like Nai Nabhannu La 3 and Summer Love. Considered one of Nepal’s most promising young filmmakers, Dhakal is now venturing into a culturally and family-oriented story with this project.

Produced under the banner of Night Angle Entertainment, the film is backed by producers Noyandra Dhital, Bijay Kumar Pathak, and Muskan Dhakal. Filming is scheduled to begin right after the Tihar festival. The title was officially unveiled by the production team today, Friday (Shrawan 16). Casting and technical preparations are currently underway, according to the team.

Presenter Ranjan Rijal stated, “Nepali audiences prefer films rooted in their own language, environment, and culture. So we’ve begun developing the story and presentation with the audience’s preferences in mind.”

According to director Muskan Dhakal, location scouting and casting have already begun. He shared that the film aims to present Nepali culture and entertainment in a balanced and meaningful way.
