After Acting, Bijay Baral Debuts in Singing: Satire on the Power System Through ‘Bidhi Ko Shasan’

Kathmandu. Actor Bijay Baral, who has succeeded in winning the hearts of the audience through his lifelike acting on stage and the film screen, has now appeared in a new role.

Bijay, who has already proven his acting talent through films, has made his singing debut with the song titled ‘Bidhi Ko Shasan’.

His debut has come not just for entertainment, but as a strong ‘voice’ against the current political system and inconsistencies.

With lyrics by Shaurabh Karki and music by Prashant Shiwakoti, the song depicts the country's contemporary political situation. Specifically, the core essence of the song is built around the ‘Gen-Z’ movement that took place in Kathmandu on Bhadra 23 and 24 and the issues it raised.

The song delivers the message that for the country's development and prosperity, a system and the rule of law are mandatory rather than the whims and impulsive styles of specific individuals. It encompasses sentiments ranging from the 2040 BS people’s movement to the changes of 2062/63 BS and the recent youth rebellions.

Regarding his first singing experience, Bijay Baral says, “This is the first song I have sung. In reality, I am not a singer, but friends encouraged me, saying that my voice would suit this subject and that I should sing. Embracing the trust of my friends, I have made an effort.”

He added, “This song is not in personal opposition or support of anyone. It is merely a satire and a warning to the power and the system. Its main objective is to show how golden dreams are turning to ashes in the country and how the lamp of hope can be lit again.”

The video of the song has been made as powerful as its audio. Prepared based on Manish Raut's concept, the video uses real photographs and footage of various political revolutions in Nepal.

From the protestors of 2040 BS to the second people’s movement of 2062/63 BS and the recent Gen-Z movement, the video portrays the police suppression and youth anger accurately. This has made the song not just a musical creation but as weighty as a historical documentary.

The trend of established artists in the Nepali film sector speaking out on social and political issues is increasing. This step by Bijay Baral also confirms that artists are not just characters on the screen but also conscious citizens of society. ‘Bidhi Ko Shasan’ is expected to represent the voice of common Nepalis waiting for good governance and development.

The song emphasizes that the remaining demands should be addressed while expressing respect to those who were injured or martyred in the movement of Bhadra 24.

Talking about actor Baral's work, he has recently been signed for the film ‘Sindure Jatra’ by blockbuster director Saroj Poudel. Actress Anjana Baraili has been finalized as Bijay's pair in this film. This is the second collaboration for both artists with director Poudel.

Previously, they worked in the film ‘Purna Bahadur Ko Sarangi’, directed by Saroj Poudel, which has become the highest-grossing film in the history of Nepali cinema.
