Gorkha Wins Gandaki Province-Level Agricultural Teej Song Competition
Pokhara – Gorkha district has won the title in the Apollo Paints-presented Gandaki Province-Level Agricultural Teej Song Competition. The event was organized by Public Four Television in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture, Land Management, and Cooperatives of Gandaki Province, and held at the Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry auditorium on Thursday.
Along with the title, Gorkha received NPR 55,555 and a certificate. Kaski secured second place, earning NPR 33,333, while Parbat came third with NPR 22,222. Baglung and Syangja received consolation prizes of NPR 11,111 each. All districts of Gandaki Province, except Manang and Mustang, participated in the competition.
Participants from Myagdi, Tanahun, and Nawalpur were recognized for excellence in dance and costume and received sarees as prizes. The awards were presented by Acting Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Padma G.C Shrestha, and Public Television Chairperson, Sabin Bhatta.
In a special recognition, the Gandharva Ama Group from Pokhara Metropolitan City-16 was awarded NPR 25,000 for their contribution to preserving traditional Teej songs. Pokhara Mayor Dhanraj Acharya handed over the cash and certificate.
The program featured performances by popular artists, including Raju Pariyar, Prajapati Parajuli, Sushila Gautam, Rajan Karki, and Sarala Pandey. Acting Chief Minister Padma G.C Shrestha emphasized that agriculture is the foundation of provincial prosperity and that connecting agriculture with tourism can further provincial development. She also highlighted the role of Teej songs in raising awareness and reaffirmed her commitment to promoting women’s empowerment and awareness programs in the future.
