Producer Binod Paudel Requests 'Abhimanyu: Chapter 1' Not Be Called a Small Film
Kathmandu. Producer Binod Paudel is requesting that the film 'Abhimanyu: Chapter 1' not be called a small film. He has stated that a film can only be categorized as big or small after its release.
His understanding is that the film that earns more is the big film, and the one that earns less is the small film. He argues that a film cannot be called big based on casting and budget alone.
Whether a big-budget film should be called big or not might be a subject of debate. However, the core of his argument—that a film should not be called big simply because it has a star cast, or small because it doesn't—is strong. Furthermore, it is not the case that all films with a star cast succeed, nor is it the case that all films without one fail.
This has already been confirmed by his own film, 'Purna Bahadurko Sarangi'. Made on a budget of ₹1.5 crore, the film collected over ₹46.80 crore from the Nepali box office alone. Should this film be called a big film or a small film?
In any case, Binod's production, 'Purna Bahadurko Sarangi', broke the all-time box office record for a film in Nepal and set a new one. Now, many are curious to see how much his second film, 'Abhimanyu', will earn.
Binod Paudel has called his film an "Underdog" film, warning people not to underestimate it. The release date of this film has been postponed multiple times for various reasons. The high confidence he displays regarding his film suggests that 'Abhimanyu' might indeed be a good film, creating a sense of anticipation.
Presented by Seven Seas Cinema, 'Abhimanyu: Chapter 1' is set to release on Mangsir 18 (December 3).
Kameshwar Chaurasia, Sarita Giri, Kiran Shrestha, Laxmi Bardewa, Gau Maya Gurung, Prakash Dahal, and Shishir Wangdel are in the main roles in this film.
Sushant Gautam has directed 'Abhimanyu', and Madan Thapa is the creative director. The screenplay for the film is written by Mukesh Khanal.
The producers of 'Abhimanyu: Chapter 1' are Binod Paudel and Gunjan Giri. Ramesh Chaulagain and Hari Shrestha are co-producers, and the executive producers are Bishal Lama, Hari Moktan, Krishna Bhattarai, Nirajan Luitel, and Sandesh Shrestha. Jeevan Shakya is the line producer.
Sharad Mahato is the DOP, Manoj Shrestha is responsible for VFX, Junim Gharti Magar for color grading, and Madan Ghimire is the editor.
The film will be released in both Nepali and Hindi languages across Nepal, as well as in India and globally.
