Censor Board Members Moved to Tears Watching ‘Aa Bata Aama
Kathmandu: The film ‘Aa Bata Aama,’ which hits theaters tomorrow, Friday, has cleared censorship. The Central Film Censorship Committee (Censor Board) granted the film a ‘Universal’ (U) certificate two days ago.
Members of the Censor Board became very emotional while watching the film. They shared that the film's sentiment touched them deeply and stated that the story and the actors' performances would win the hearts of the audience.
After watching the film, Censor Board member and senior journalist Kuber Giri remarked that the story is attractive and compelling. He mentioned that he personally loved the film and felt emotional several times during the screening. He noted that while films about mothers have been made before, none have been as moving as this one.
"A few films have been made on the subject of mothers, and they all tried to show a mother’s suffering," he said after the screening. "Compared to those, this film is different. It presents a mother’s story in a distinct way that is both attractive and captivating. Personally, I liked this film very much."
He added, "I became very emotional while watching the film. This movie, built on a family story, might make many people cry, not just me."
Other Censor Board members and the production team present during the screening were also visibly teary-eyed. Another board member, Sampurna Shrestha, stated that the film is excellent. He mentioned that Nepali films have started becoming very good lately, and among them, he found ‘Aa Bata Aama’ to be outstanding.
He said, "Lately, Nepali movies have started to become extremely excellent. Among them, ‘Aa Bata Aama’ has been made as a movie full of Nepali family stories. I also request the audience to go to the theaters and watch this movie."
Following this feedback from the Censor Board members, the production team appears very excited about the film. Despite the rising election fever, the hype for this movie has not diminished.
The songs included in the film, ‘Laija Khabar E Hawa’ and ‘Jaandaichhu Nau Danda Kaatera,’ are also receiving feedback for making listeners emotional. Additionally, these songs have garnered over 3 million views on YouTube.
Presented by Arya Entertainment, the film is directed by Chandra Pant. Based on his own story and screenplay, the film features performances by Bipana Thapa, Paul Shah, Pradeep Rawat, Usha Upreti, Simran Pant, Saigrace Pokharel, Gajit Bista, and Begam Nepali, among others.
Having already gained significant buzz through its teaser, trailer, and songs, the film features music by Koshis Chhetri, Babul Giri, and Thaneshwor Gautam. The choreography is by Gambhir Bista and Dilip Okheda, while the dialogues written by Abhimanyu Nirabi saw collaboration from Amar Neupane and Chandra Pant.
The film is produced by Krishna Prasad Subedi, Omkar Pant, Prakash Jung Kunwar, Dhruva Prasad Neupane, and Kshitiz Dhungana, with Karan Singh Rasali as the executive producer. The film was shot by Nabaraj Upreti and edited by Milan Shrestha.
The trailer and teaser work were handled by Sahil Khan, and the film is being distributed by RR Films. OSR Digital holds the digital rights.
