Election Commissioner Urges Voter Awareness During Media Workshop
Kathmandu: Acting Chief Election Commissioner of the Election Commission, Ram Prasad Bhandari, emphasized the need to raise voter awareness during a "Master Trainer Training Workshop" on Elections and Mass Communication held in Kathmandu on Friday.
During the program, Bhandari stated, "Currently, it is essential to provide training to voters. This election was announced following the rebellion on September 8 and 9 and the subsequent difficult circumstances.
This is not a periodic election but an early election. The objective of this election is to bring the country back into a disciplined rhythm and select individuals capable of ensuring peace, security, and good governance."
He further added, "If voters are deprived of voting, it is like being deprived of the work you wanted or intended to do. Only your vote can select a qualified person capable of delivering good governance. Therefore, vote freely."
Election Commissioner Bhandari also stressed the importance of the media's role in making voters aware. According to him, media outlets in various locations must inform every voter about their right to vote and its impact.
The master trainers participating in the program also received practical training on voter education action plans, challenges involved in the election process, and strategies for disseminating information through the media.
