Upcoming CPN-UML General Convention: No Dispute on Policy or Leadership
Kathmandu - Vice-General Secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), Bishnu Prasad Rimal, has stated that there will be no dispute over policy and leadership at the party's upcoming 11th National General Convention.
Speaking at an interaction program organized by Press Chautari Nepal today, Vice-General Secretary Rimal said that because the party has a long history, struggles, and has advanced through inter-party democratic practice, clean competition should not be considered unnatural.
"There is no dispute regarding the question of policy within the party. We are moving forward under the guidance of People's Multiparty Democracy with the national goal of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.' The current Chairman, KP Sharma Oli, has the capacity to lead the country with this stable policy and nationalist stance," he said.
"In that sense, we will proceed with a system of collective leadership to assist the main leadership. The discussions outside that competition is not allowed or that problems will arise in the party just because an election is held are not factual."
About 2,400 delegates, including organizers and elected representatives, will attend the CPN-UML General Convention. The convention, which will take place from Mangsir 27 to 29, will be inaugurated at Sallaghari, Bhaktapur, and the closed session will be held at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu.
