No Victory Celebration After Special Convention, Unity Needed: Deu Prasad Limbu

Kathmandu – Nepali Congress leader Deu Prasad Limbu has stated that there is no situation for a victory celebration, rejoicing, or happiness within the party following the special convention. Limbu, the proposed candidate for Jhapa Constituency No. 3, urged all leaders and party workers to come together in unity, emphasizing that no one has won or lost in the Congress.

According to him, the Congress symbol (tree) and the party’s name remain with the Congress and are safe within it. Therefore, the special convention should be seen not as a matter of winning or losing but as an opportunity to advance the party in a new way.

Acknowledging that some leaders and party workers had disagreements during the special convention, Limbu stated that those issues have ended after the Election Commission confirmed the party’s legitimacy. “Now everyone must stand together,” he emphasized.

He added that even though former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka, among others, disagreed with the convention, those disagreements have now concluded. Limbu also expressed confidence that current president Gagan Thapa, office-bearers, and central members will unite the party.

Limbu highlighted that leaders like Sher Bahadur Deuba and Purna Bahadur Khadka remain highly respected and that the Congress has entered a new political environment. He stated that the leadership at the center will work to include everyone, while local leaders and workers are responsible for unity at the district and local levels.

Emphasizing that Congress is a shared home for all and a party of the Nepali people, Limbu expressed commitment to fully include even those who had disagreements. He described internal differences as a form of “family quarrel” and said that remaining issues should be resolved in the coming days.

Finally, he humbly requested that no victory celebrations or rejoicing be held, stating, “The time for a real celebration will come only after we secure a majority in the upcoming general elections.”

In this context, Deu Prasad Limbu shared his message on social media, writing “Jai Nepal” and promoting party unity.
