UML Leader Surya Thapa Emphasizes Internal Unity and Wise Leadership Decisions

Kathmandu – Leader of the  UML, Surya Thapa, highlighted the importance of internal unity and prudent leadership in a recent Facebook post. He stated, “Discussions and debates at any time should be conducted properly, face-to-face, and logically; however, facing external crises is only possible by strengthening internal unity.”

Thapa emphasized that the party’s leadership should be built through a balanced combination of youth, middle-aged, and senior members, and that top leadership is formed only through high-level wisdom, acceptability, and institutional management. According to him, personal demands, biases, or frustrations cannot serve as standards for leadership formation.

He urged careful analysis of the events of Bhadra 23, 24, and 25, stressing that the key question is where the party went wrong and how the conspiracy unfolded. He also cautioned, “If someone tilts one pillar elsewhere, the remaining four pillars stand tilted in their own place.”

Thapa clarified that UML leadership should be determined solely through internal discussion, debate, understanding, and institutional decisions, and that members should avoid being swayed by external influences.

He further noted that the second statutory convention has recently institutionalized leadership structures, and the upcoming 11th National Convention will be held at the appropriate time to conduct comprehensive discussions, analysis, and reach conclusions.
