Prohibitory Order Issued at Tribhuvan Airport Amid Preparations to Welcome Former King

A prohibitory order has been issued within the premises of Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, issued a notice on Thursday announcing the restriction in and around the airport area.

According to the notice issued by the local administration, the prohibitory order comes into effect starting Thursday. With this order in place, gatherings of more than five people for protests, sit-ins, picketing, rallies, demonstrations, or mass meetings are prohibited in the specified area.

"Information is hereby provided to not organize or cause to be organized any protest programs such as sit-ins, hunger strikes, picketing, rallies, demonstrations, or meetings involving more than five people in the entire area within the airport premises, including the road from the Golden Gate entering the airport, the internal terminal area, international terminal area, and parking area," states the order issued by Chief District Officer Ishwar Raj Paudel.

The order notes that organizing protests, rallies, and demonstrations in a highly sensitive area like the airport could lead to unruly activities such as vandalism and arson by agitated crowds. The administration has also warned of legal action against anyone conducting the aforementioned activities in the restricted zone.

On February 13 (Falgun 1), the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and others are preparing to welcome former King Gyanendra Shah at the Tribhuvan International Airport premises. The former King is scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu from Jhapa on that day.

RPP Senior Vice Chairman Rabindra Mishra has issued a call via Facebook, stating, "Let us give a grand welcome to the King at Kathmandu Airport on Falgun 1."DAO-NOTICE-1770882277.jpg
