‘The Blue Light’ Released in Theaters Today After Excellent Reviews
Kathmandu: The movie ‘The Blue Light’ has been released in theaters today. Under the 'Friday Release' schedule, the film has premiered in cinemas across the country.
Directed by Baliram Chauhan, the film received excellent feedback during its premiere. Audiences and filmmakers who attended the premiere on Thursday praised the movie openly.
Feedback suggests that ‘The Blue Light’ is one of the few good Nepali films made in the psychological thriller genre. Many believe it is quite different from other films currently being produced in Nepal.
At a time when audiences and critics are complaining about repetitive styles of cinema, actors and makers stated that ‘The Blue Light’ offers a different flavor. Some remarked that the background score maintains the thriller mood until the very end.
The excitement seen at the premiere provides confidence that ‘The Blue Light’ will offer something fresh to audiences tired of watching the same types of films. It is expected that the general public will also appreciate this cinema, which was produced by taking significant creative risks.
Everyone at the premiere praised the acting and the filmmaking. In particular, Shristi Shrestha's performance in a negative role received significant buzz. Speaking after the premiere, actor and director Deepak Acharya (Kaku) described the overall package of the film as excellent.
Claiming that the actors' performances will mesmerize the audience, he said, “There is the magic of Narendra Mainali in cinematography, and the story is absolutely new. The acting of the artists will keep you bound inside the theater.”
Similarly, producer Abiral Thapa mentioned that film lovers must watch this movie to experience the magic of Narendra Mainali’s cinematography. At the premiere, celebrities including actor Khagendra Lamichhane and actress Niti Shah also praised the technical aspects and storytelling style of the film.
Benisha Hamal, the lead actress and executive producer of the film, expressed her happiness after the premiere, saying, “Making a psychological thriller in Nepal was a big challenge and a risk. However, the feedback given by the audience and filmmakers present at the premiere today has made us feel that our hard work has been successful. This film is not just acting for me, but also a dream.”
Director Baliram Chauhan expressed his gratitude to the actors for bringing the story he wanted to tell to life on screen. He added, “We have made an honest effort. I am optimistic that the general audience in the theaters will love it just as they did at the premiere.”
The movie ‘The Blue Light’ stars Benisha Hamal, Shristi Shrestha, Arpan Thapa, Ayushman Desraj Joshi, Mahesh Tripathi, and Surakshya Itani in lead roles. Child actors include Grishma Katuwal and Sahara Sharma. This is the debut directorial venture for Baliram Chauhan.
Presented by Skyfall Pictures, the film's co-producers are Bholanath Katuwal and Raman Gray. Cinematographer Narendra Mainali and actress Benisha Hamal serve as executive producers. With cinematography by Narendra Mainali, the film features Akash Ukheda as the chief assistant director, Relija Shrestha as the production designer, and Dilip Pant as the production controller.
The production team seems confident that the film, released nationwide today (Friday), will receive positive word-of-mouth from the general public just as it did at the premiere.
