Gagan Kumar Thapa Promises 1.5 Million Jobs for Nepali Youth in Five Years
Kathmandu. Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has stated that a plan has been developed to create 1.5 million jobs for Nepali youth over the next five years. He mentioned that a manifesto has been prepared to continue the "Mission Employment" initiated by the Congress and to fulfill the fundamental right to employment as enshrined in the Constitution.
He clarified that the goal is not just a random 5,000 jobs, but a commitment to create employment through sector-specific plans in agriculture, tourism, physical infrastructure, and information technology.
He said, "We will create programs for 5,000 youths, whether it be in parliament or the government. We have developed specific programs regarding this."
He claimed that the Congress has a plan to respect the digital freedom and creativity of the youth. "Today's youth possess immense art, literature, and creativity. They are creating, but they are not finding a market to sell their work. They are seeking freedom in this regard. We are clear about this."
He also emphasized the importance of making youth skills and creativity dynamic. He said, "The education or skills a young man or woman is pursuing should not become useless later on. To keep them skilled, it is necessary to provide further momentum to the skills they are studying, because the current market is competitive."
Similarly, he shared that the government has planned for "brain gain" alongside addressing "brain drain," focusing on how to institutionally bring back skilled human resources. "We have prepared a plan on how to create an environment where youth who have gone abroad can work institutionally within Nepal."
