Tensions Rise in Parliament Over Prime Minister’s Absence
In the ongoing parliamentary session in Kathmandu, opposition parties have strongly protested the absence of Prime Minister Balendra Shah during the presentation of the government's policies and programs.
When Finance Minister Swornim Wagle attempted to present the proposal on behalf of the Prime Minister, all opposition lawmakers stood from their seats in protest. In particular, Harka Sampang, chairman of the Shram Sanskriti Party, expressed serious objection to the Prime Minister's absence and even demanded his resignation.
"Does everything happen just as you please?" Harka Sampang, chairman of the Shram Sanskriti Party, remarked. Although the Speaker attempted to remind the house of the parliamentary regulations, the opposition maintained their stance that the house would not proceed without the Prime Minister.
Currently, opposition lawmakers have taken their seats after Arjun Narsingh KC, a lawmaker from the main opposition party, began speaking, but a tense atmosphere persists in Parliament.
