Tension at Nepali Congress Headquarter in Sanepa
Kathmandu. Tension broke out outside Sanepa, the central office of the Nepali Congress. Supporters of a special general convention chanted slogans against party leaders.
After these supporters were stopped from entering the party office, they also tried to block leaders from the opposing faction from entering.
Former Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi faced interference while trying to enter the office. Leaders had arrived at the central office for a Central Work Execution Committee meeting called on Tuesday, but they were forced to use an alternative gate.
It has been nearly three months since 54 percent of Nepali Congress convention delegates submitted signatures demanding a special general convention.
According to the party's constitution, if at least 40 percent of delegates make a demand, a special general convention must be called within three months.
