Historic Tundikhel Teej Festival 2025 to Begin

With the theme “Our Culture, Our Identity: Preserving Endangered Traditions”, the third edition of the historic Tundikhel Teej Festival 2082 will begin this Friday at the old Tundikhel in Pokhara-1.
Organized by the Indreni Integrated Development Center and primarily sponsored by BYD, the ten-day festival will be inaugurated by former Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.
The opening ceremony will feature a rally from Old Tundikhel, including local organizations, mothers’ groups, schools, and cultural communities, passing through key city points before returning to Tundikhel. Participating groups with the largest turnout, best costume, and most outstanding float will receive cash prizes.
The festival will host over 150 trade stalls, 12 restaurant stalls, and daily cultural programs, including traditional Teej song competitions, solo dance contests, and indigenous skill contests like Dhinchi-Jato and Chelo throwing. Prizes range from NPR 3,555 to 35,555 depending on category and performance.
Aims of the festival include preserving historic Tundikhel, promoting traditional Nepali arts and crafts, empowering women through exhibitions and performances, fostering tourism, and providing platforms for local talent. The estimated budget is NPR 69 lakh income, 64.5 lakh expenses, with 4.5 lakh savings allocated to social initiatives.
