Special Musical Program Organized in Memory of Immortal Singer Tara Devi

Kathmandu: A special program featuring tributes, honors, and musical performances has been organized in memory of the immortal singer of the Nepali music industry, Tara Devi. The event was held at the Nepal Police Club, Bhrikutimandap, organized by the Tara Devi Memorial Foundation and co-organized by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

The ceremony began with the offering of garlands to the portrait of the immortal singer. On this occasion, discussions were held regarding her timeless songs, her contributions to Nepali music, and her personality. Subsequently, Tara Devi's art and creations were remembered through various cultural and musical programs.

During the live musical performances, the venue was filled with an emotional atmosphere as Tara Devi's evergreen songs resonated. Her songs moved the audience and listeners emotionally, while the new generation also had the opportunity to experience the deep impact of her music.

Senior artist Kiran Kharel, composer Deepak Jangam, and musician and former mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Bidya Sundar Shakya, participated as special guests in the ceremony. The guests expressed their views that Tara Devi is an indelible name in the history of Nepali music and that her contributions will always remain memorable.

On the occasion of the ceremony, creators who have made significant contributions to the development of Nepali song and music were also honored. The honored personalities included lyricist Madhav Prasad Khanal, composer Shiva Shankar Manandhar, and renowned singer Sangeeta Rana Pradhan. 

While receiving the honors, the artists expressed their belief that programs organized in memory of great artists like Tara Devi further elevate the dignity of Nepali music.

Deepak KC, Chairman of the organizing institution Tara Devi Memorial Foundation, stated that Tara Devi was an inspirational figure in Nepali music and that her songs, voice, and contributions will always be remembered. 

He also expressed confidence that such programs highlight the contributions of veteran creators while attracting and inspiring the new generation toward Nepali songs and music.

Participants commented that the program not only paid tribute to Tara Devi but also inspired them to reflect on the history and continuity of Nepali music.
