Surya Thapa Criticizes Alliance of Eleven Parties, Calls Them Anti-Oli and Principles
Kathmandu. CPN-UML Politburo member Surya Thapa has accused the eleven-party alliance of having the sole objective of opposing KP Oli and his principles.
Speaking at an interaction program with media personnel organized in Kathmandu on Thursday, he stated that apart from the Socialist and Maoist parties, the others are "zero" (insignificant), and claiming "we just merged like this" holds no meaning.
He said, "You said there was an alliance of eleven parties until yesterday. We recognize the Socialist and the Maoist parties. The other nine are zeros. Nobody recognizes them. What will happen with the merger of eleven parties then? The situation across the country is this.
So, what is the meaning of saying 'we just merged like this'? They have been doing this since the year 2077 [B.S.]. That means the opposition of KP Oli's principles. Their politics is the condemnation of KP Oli."
He further commented that there is a current trend of "pension-earning celebrities" suddenly opening a political party. He stated that not every party established will become a party that can lead the nation for a century like the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, adding that the currently registered parties are at risk of becoming "temporary and insignificant" .
He also informed that out of the 328 people who spoke in the Central Committee demanding that KP Oli should step down and take moral responsibility for the incident on the 23rd, 16 members from the Central Committee and 5 from the Secretariat—a total of 21 people—had cast their vote.
