Successful Rescue of Two Stranded Nepalis in Ukraine
Two Nepalis who had reached Ukraine for foreign employment via India have been rescued. With the initiative of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) and the coordination and facilitation of the Embassy of Nepal in Germany, 28-year-old Jayprakash Shah from Rautahat and 23-year-old Sandesh KC from Baglung, who had been in a military camp in Ukraine for the past 14 months, were rescued.
Some time ago, they had contacted NRNA’s Chief Executive Officer Rajendra Kumar Raut, requesting initiation for their rescue. Following this, the association coordinated with the embassy to facilitate the necessary process.
They had arrived there in July 2024 and had been living in an immigration camp in Kyiv for the past 14 months. From Ukraine, they traveled via Moldova and New Delhi, India, and both arrived in Kathmandu today at 1 PM.
At Tribhuvan International Airport, they were welcomed by NRNA’s Chief Executive Officer Rajendra Kumar Raut and Junior Officer Niroj Maharjan on behalf of the Secretariat.
Both expressed gratitude to the Non-Resident Nepali Association and the Embassy of Nepal in Germany for their coordination, assistance, and facilitation during their difficult time.
