Election Commission Sets Spending Limits for National Assembly Members
Kathmandu – The Election Commission has fixed the spending limit for the National Assembly member elections. The Commission has determined that a candidate can spend up to Rs 350,000 for the election.
The Commission has set the spending limits as Rs 1,000 for purchasing the voter list, Rs 70,000 for vehicles, Rs 10,000 for fuel, and Rs 14,500 for publicity materials.
Similarly, Rs 10,000 can be spent on transportation, Rs 100,000 for seminars and interactions, and Rs 14,500 for other publicity through print and electronic media.
Likewise, candidates can spend Rs 70,000 for office operations, Rs 30,000 for mobilizing representatives, and Rs 30,000 under miscellaneous headings. The National Assembly member election is being held on Magh 11.
According to the Commission, candidates must open a separate account in a bank or financial institution to spend the money and must appoint a responsible official to handle the spending on their behalf.
The details of the election expenses must be made public after the election is completed and submitted to the Commission according to the National Assembly Member Election Act, 2075.
