Social Activist Durga Prasai Calls for a People-Centric Constitution, Criticizes Betrayal of Gen-Z Movement
Kathmandu — Social activist Durga Prasai has expressed strong criticism over what he terms the “betrayal” of the recent Gen-Z movement and emphasized the urgent need for a new constitution rooted in Nepal’s soil and the aspirations of its people.
In a statement on social media, Prasai said that unless Nepal can create a constitution connected to the land’s heritage and the soul of its citizens, the country will continue to witness the cycle of bloodshed every decade.
“We do not need a constitution written at the behest of foreigners or to please them. What we need is a constitution that resonates with Nepal’s soil and the dreams and sentiments of its people,” he stated.
Prasai further predicted that after the upcoming Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath festivals, a new wave of movement led by the people themselves will bring profound change to the nation.
“The new generation will write a new constitution with their own hands — one that clearly reflects the pride, Nepali identity, and national spirit of future generations,” he added.
