RSP Leader Dr. Shree Kunwar Resigns After Being Denied Election Ticket
Dr. Shree Kunwar, who was recommended as a candidate for the House of Representatives election from Rupandehi-1 by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has resigned from the party. He stated that he left the party after candidates were selected without conducting the primary elections that the party had pledged to uphold.
Including Kunwar, six individuals were recommended from Rupandehi-1. However, instead of holding a primary election, the party selected Sunil Lamsal as the candidate for that constituency. Lamsal is an individual who served as an advisor to senior RSP leader Balen Shah during his tenure as the Mayor of Kathmandu.
Kunwar mentioned that he resigned because the party collected 25,000 rupees from aspiring candidates but failed to conduct the primary elections, and also because the party's stance and vision regarding nationality remained unclear.
Kunwar further alleged that collecting 50,000 rupees for proportional representation placement and 25,000 rupees for direct candidacy represents a new method of corruption.
