RSP Calls for Proportional Representation Candidates for February 21 Election
Kathmandu — The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has called for applications from candidates for the proportional representation system for the House of Representatives election scheduled on February 21.
The party has set criteria for candidates, including no misuse of public office and valid marital status. According to a statement issued by RSP spokesperson Manish Jha, the call for applications follows the candidate selection framework prepared by Deputy General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya.
RSP has stated that an audit committee will be formed to ensure that the candidate selection process is transparent, legal, and fair.
The party has developed a more advanced, scientific, and objective proportional list framework, considering not only the constitutionally mandated ethnic clusters but also the provincial demographic ratio and the proportional votes the party received in the 2022 general election, resulting in a list of 110 candidates.
According to RSP, this system ensures proportional representation in the provinces while also addressing the demographic ratios based on ethnic clusters.
