RSP to Make Proportional Candidate Selection More Inclusive and Transparent

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to make the selection process for proportional candidates for the 2025 House of Representatives election more inclusive, transparent, and technology-friendly.

A party secretariat meeting concluded yesterday (Wednesday) decided to re-include candidate aspirants who missed the discussion process, conduct virtual evaluations for aspirants living abroad, and involve members of the Central Committee in the selection process.

According to party spokesperson Manish Jha, candidate aspirants who could not participate or were unable to join the discussion held on December 20 due to special reasons will be included in the selection process, excluding the discussions and preliminary elections.

The responsibility for this task has been given to spokesperson Jha and secretariat member Deepak Bohora, while Vice-Chairman Dr. Swarnim Wagle and General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti will monitor the process.

Similarly, the evaluation of candidate aspirants living abroad will be conducted through virtual means. Applicants who make it onto the closed list through the virtual process will be required to be present at the party's central office by 9:00 AM on December 29.

To ease the proportional candidate selection process, the meeting decided to involve Central Committee members based on a proposal from the candidate selection committee and the agreement of Vice-Chairmen Dol Prasad Aryal and Dr. Swarnim Wagle.

Additionally, a task force including representatives from the party’s Central Election Commission and the Information Technology unit has been given the responsibility to determine the criteria for members eligible to vote in the preliminary election, following a proposal from the selection committee.

The meeting also decided to nominate Gokul Sapkota as a member of the Central Election Commission and Shivraj Panta as a member of the Central Organization Department as part of the efforts to strengthen the organizational structure.
