RPP to Accord Grand Welcome to Former King Gyanendra Shah

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is set to organize a grand welcome for former King Gyanendra Shah upon his return to Kathmandu from Jhapa. Former King Shah, who is currently in Jhapa for a family visit, is scheduled to return to the capital on February 13 (Falgun 1). Three key RPP leaders have called upon supporters to gather for the welcome.

RPP Spokesperson Mohan Shrestha has urged people to turn out for the former King's arrival. He stated, "We will give a grand welcome to the King at the Kathmandu airport on February 13. Let all patriotic and nationalist forces unite to end the politics of exclusion."

Similarly, senior RPP leader Dhawal Shamsher Rana also appealed for a massive turnout in Kathmandu. He said, "To make the return of His Majesty King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev from Jhapa on February 13 civil and grand, let all royalists and patriots unite and reach Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport to welcome His Majesty. Let us unite to see the King ascend the throne for the third time."

Furthermore, RPP leader Rabindra Mishra addressed RPP members and monarchists, appealing for a welcome at the Kathmandu airport on February 13. He wrote, "Let us give a grand, grand, grand welcome to the King at the Kathmandu airport on February 13. Even the old parties are now almost realizing that the country needs the umbrella of the monarchy. This is a very positive sign.

While the general public supporting the monarchy will certainly attend, if friends from RPP and other pro-monarchy groups from around the valley—and if possible, from across the country—could gather in Kathmandu for one day, the welcome would be historic." He added that there are signs the country is moving toward a "new understanding."
