RPP and RPP Nepal Agree to Merge After Four Years of Separation
After four years of separation, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal have agreed to merge. The decision for party unity was reached following discussions between the chairmen of the two parties, Rajendra Lingden and Kamal Thapa.
Former Chairman Thapa had announced his departure from RPP on Magh 25, 2078, after being unable to accept Lingden as the leader following his defeat in the party’s general convention. During that convention in Mangsir 2078, Thapa alleged that the former King and "Nirmal Niwas" interfered to cause his defeat.
Thapa later announced the formation of RPP Nepal on Falgun 7, 2078. Amidst the recent "Gen Z" movements and growing challenges from mainstream political parties, these two pro-monarchy groups have decided to come together once again.
