'Every Student's Story': Title Song of Film 'Roll No. 1' Released
Kathmandu. The song of the movie 'Roll No. 1' has been released. Produced under the banner of Seven Seas Cinema, the title song of the movie has been made public.
The title song features lyrics, music, and vocals by Prashant Shiwakoti.
The released song focuses on the Nepalese education system and the pressure children face in the race for 'ranking' at the school level. It portrays the story of a child from a rural area. The lyrics take a sharp aim at the social mindset that respects only the student who comes first, suggesting that the system treats others as fools and only one as a scholar.
The song attempts to analyze child psychology. The main story of this movie revolves around how a faulty educational system, along with studies, impacts children. The film's song has been prepared around this very theme.
The video artistically captures beautiful scenes of the Himalayan region, traditional stone houses, and the life of a rural school. On one hand, the boy is forced to study late by candlelight, while on the other, his desire to play volleyball and roam with friends is suppressed. The song satirizes the trend of telling students to 'rote learn' (ratta maar), forcing them to memorize rather than understand.
The song seems to have the potential to make the cinema appealing. Through the song, an attempt has been made to show the adverse effects on students who go to school to make their futures bright.
With the slogan 'Every Student's Story', Binod Paudel's film 'Roll No. 1' is scheduled to be screened in theaters across Nepal from Jestha 15 (Republic Day).
Directed by Jon Yonzon, the movie stars Mukun Bhusal, Sushank Mainali, Renu Yogi, and Srijana Adhikari in lead roles. The child actors in the movie include Nirbhik Regmi, Rinchen Lama, Samyam Katuwal, and Sejal Shrestha.
