Distributor Rohit Kattel Steps into Film Production with ‘Mirmire’
Kathmandu: Film distributor Rohit Kattel has entered film production for the first time. The proprietor of the film distribution company RR Films, Rohit has become the executive producer for the movie ‘Mirmire’.
Why did he, who has been distributing films, become a producer? He states that he felt encouraged to produce the film after liking its story.
“In terms of production, Mirmire is my third film. When director Yam Sherpa narrated the story to me, I liked it,” Rohit says. “When an offer comes to produce a film with a good story, I thought, why not collaborate? That is why I invested.”
Rohit shares that the story of a father and daughter touched him. “This is the story of all us Nepalis. It is a story of every household,” he says. “It is a story that many of us Nepalis have experienced and seen. That is why I liked this story as soon as I heard it.”
He mentions that he is always ready to produce films with good stories. Rohit believes it is his responsibility to bring good films to the audience, sometimes through distribution and sometimes through production.
Written and directed by Yam Sherpa, the film ‘Mirmire’ is set to be released on Magh 1. Presented by Yarsa Films, the movie stars Dayahang Rai, Prakash Saput, Sirjana Ninglekhu, Maotse Gurung, Chhulthim Gurung, Bholaraj Sapkota, Bimal Yadav, Shaisha Gauchan, Divisha Panta, Chirag Shrestha, and Namanraj Gajurel.
Produced by Nimu Sherpa, Chhongba Lama Sherpa, and Ang Chhiring Sherpa, ‘Mirmire’ features Govinda Bohara and Sudip Kunwar as co-producers. The executive producer of this film is distributor Rohit Kattel, who is also the proprietor of RR Films.
With Birendra Shahi as the line producer, the film has Sudip Kunwar as the chief assistant director, Sanju Thalang Limbu for makeup, and Dilip Panta as the production controller.
The nationwide distribution of ‘Mirmire’ is being handled by Rohit Kattel and Ratna Shrestha’s RR Films.
