Former Minister Devendra Dahal Calls for Review of Recent Political Events

Kathmandu. Former Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, has stated that a serious review is underway regarding the political developments witnessed in the country in recent years.

Speaking at a meeting of the National Assembly, Dahal mentioned that there have been many political ups and downs, noting that the current situation is different from how it was ten years ago. He said that civil society, politicians, and the general public are reviewing the activities carried out nearly four and a half months ago under the name of the "Gen Z movement."

He said, "There have been many political ups and downs. The events occurring now are distinct from those ten years ago. Serious review is being conducted regarding the incidents that took place nearly four and a half months ago in the name of the Gen Z movement. Civil society, politicians, and all the people are reviewing this."

Dahal stated that questions are being raised as to whether those events aimed to bring about radical change in the country or were merely acts of chaos.

Additionally, he questioned whether it could be considered a movement when the Singh Durbar, regarded as a heritage of the Nepali people, was set on fire while security personnel stationed nearby were warned not to extinguish the flames.

He said, "The question is being raised everywhere: were these events carried out to bring radical change to the country, or was it just chaos? Is it a movement to burn Singh Durbar—the heritage of the Nepali people—while security personnel sitting nearby watched helplessly after being warned, 'Don't you dare put out the fire'?"
