Rautahat Security Tightened for Upcoming Elections
Rautahat: Security arrangements in Rautahat district have been tightened to ensure that the House of Representatives member election, scheduled for March 5, is peaceful, fearless, and impartial. As the election date approaches, security agencies have increased their activity across all four constituencies of the district.
According to a special decision by the Government of Nepal and the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Nepalese Army has been deployed for security nearly a month ahead of the election. While it was traditional in past elections to deploy the army only a few days before voting, this time, a joint team of the Nepalese Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force has started special patrols under the 'Integrated Security Plan 2082'.
Security activity has been significantly increased particularly in Rautahat constituency number 4. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Rupa Labung, Chief of the Area Police Office Chandranigahpur, joint teams from all three security agencies are conducting daily foot and mobile patrols to provide full security guarantees to voters, candidates, and election staff.
"Our main objective is to complete the election in a clean, free, impartial, and fearless environment," said DSP Labung. "To eliminate potential fear and intimidation and to face security challenges, the team, including the army, is conducting regular monitoring."
Based on the district's geographical difficulties and incidents from past elections, security agencies have identified 'highly sensitive' and 'sensitive' areas and increased special surveillance. The joint team is also reportedly conducting a detailed analysis of the physical condition of polling stations, entry and exit routes, and potential security challenges.
