‘Ramakrishna Dhakal Evening’ Concludes Grandly in Canada, Proceeds Donated to Pashupatinath Temple

A grand musical event titled ‘Ramakrishna Dhakal Evening’ was successfully held in Brampton, Canada, coinciding with International Music Day. Renowned Nepali singer Ramakrishna Dhakal captivated the audience with his soulful performance of evergreen Nepali songs, bringing a deep sense of nostalgia and patriotism to Nepalis living abroad.
The event began with Dhakal singing the emotional patriotic number “Bihan Uthane Bittikai Himal Dekhna Paiyos…” while playing the harmonium, receiving a thunderous applause from the packed hall. He followed with a string of his popular hits such as “Charile Ta Chhadera Gai Gayo,” “Maya Garneko,” and “Man Parawne Hajar Bhetinchhan.” Many in the audience were seen emotionally moved as they sang along to the live renditions. Singer Rita Burlakoti joined Dhakal in duets, while Santosh Ghimire accompanied on tabla and Udayaraj Paudel on guitar.
Ramakrishna Dhakal, who began his musical career at the age of 13 with his first solo concert in 2045 BS, has released 20 solo albums and recorded over 5,000 songs to date. His performance rekindled memories of his musical journey and influence in Nepali music history.
The program was described as a cultural and emotional bridge for Nepalis living in the diaspora. Organizing committee member Ghanshyam Bhattarai shared that the event was a powerful way to reconnect with Nepali identity and music. Committee chair Kamal Gyawali expressed heartfelt gratitude to all supporters and attendees who helped make the event a success.
As part of their social responsibility, the organizers donated the proceeds from the event to the Pashupatinath and Buddha temples in Brampton. On Sunday morning, the team performed a special puja and handed over the donation to temple authorities, according to event coordinator Rishi Pokharel.
