Rabindra Mishra Calls for Election Delay to Seek Political Consensus
Senior leader of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and candidate for Kathmandu Constituency No. 1, Rabindra Mishra, has stated that the election date should be postponed slightly.
The House of Representatives election is scheduled for March 5. However, Mishra emphasized that the election should be pushed back and the country must head toward a new understanding before it takes place.
Speaking at a press conference organized in Kathmandu today, Mishra mentioned that it is his personal wish for the election to be postponed by a few days. Journalists had asked him, "Are you confident that the election will take place on March 5?"
Responding to the question, Mishra said, "I am confident that I will win from Kathmandu-1 this time. Voters who have cast ballots for various parties in Kathmandu-1 have organized extensive programs for me. Having lost twice by a narrow margin, I now have the confidence that I will win, and I am happy."
Additionally, he stated that while he might win, it would not benefit the country if it cannot be led toward the agenda desired by the RPP. "I am clear that even if I win, if the country cannot be moved toward the agenda our party wants, it will not be in the country's interest. Therefore, let the election be postponed a bit instead."
"Let the country move toward a new understanding before the election," Mishra said. "Despite being one hundred percent certain that I will win, it is my personal wish that the March 5 election be postponed slightly and the country moves toward the path of a new understanding."
