Rabi Lamichhane in Dhangadhi: "No More Politics of Perpetual Demands"
Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane has declared that the practice of stalling Sudurpashchim’s issues and rights by turning them into perpetual demands will now be stopped. Addressing the RSP's 'Pariwartan Udghosh' assembly held in Dhangadhi on Wednesday, he pledged to simultaneously shut down the "shutters" of bad governance, irregularities, unemployment, and illiteracy in Sudurpashchim.
Claiming that the people have already made up their minds, he stated that only the physical act of voting remains for Falgun 21. He said, "The stamp on the ballot paper will be placed on the 21st, but the stamp on the people’s hearts has already been set. We must stop the practice of using Sudurpashchim’s issues and rights as mere demands to keep things lingering for years. On the 21st, we are not just casting votes; we are creating history by closing the shutters on bad governance, irregularities, unemployment, and illiteracy."
Similarly, he stated that RSP would end the era where people's rights are treated as mere demands written in bold letters in election manifestos—a practice he described as a political anomaly and corruption. Noting that voters often receive promises from leaders only to suffer the consequences later, Chairman Lamichhane argued that leaders who make promises but fail to fulfill them should be the ones punished.
He said, "RSP will end the era of treating people's rights as demands written in bold letters in every election manifesto, which is one of the many political distortions. We are here to fulfill the people's demands; that is why we have asked for a stable government for five years this time. Leaders give promises to the people, but why should the voting public be the ones to suffer? If promises are made and not kept, there must be punishment. The people should not be the ones punished anymore, which is why we expect a stable government."
He also urged those abroad, including in India, to arrange leave and come to vote. He stated that while leaders have always won previous elections, this time he would ensure the people win. He further requested voters not to split their votes in this election.
