Provincial Committee of Nepali Congress Demands Unconditional Reinstatement of Leader Krishna KC and Others

Pokhara, July 21
Nepali Congress leaders and cadres have demanded the unconditional reinstatement of leader Krishna KC and other leaders, who are known among the public as dignified, honest, dutiful, and development-oriented figures, following disciplinary action taken against them.
Senior leaders, party workers, and office bearers of sister organizations have termed the action taken by the Congress Disciplinary Commission as inappropriate, contradictory, person-centric, and driven by political vengeance. They have called for the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the action.
Meanwhile, a full meeting of the Nepali Congress Provincial Assembly Regional Working Committee Office, Constituency No. 1 (B), Kaski, has made a formal decision to write to the Central Disciplinary Committee Coordinator, demanding a review and cancellation of the action, expressing grave objection.
Congress President Krishna Prasad Koirala and 28 committee officials have submitted a written objection, calling the disciplinary action completely unjust, biased, and influenced by factional interests.
The letter states that within the Nepali Congress, the disciplinary action issued under the name of Central Coordinator Anand Dhungana on Ashar 25, 2082 (July 9, 2025), influenced by vengeance, prejudice, and internal factions, in violation of party statute, democratic values, and organizational decorum, has saddened and outraged the disciplined party members and the broader Congress family.
In particular, the action taken against former Kaski District President Krishna KC, former invited central member Kumar Khadka, and Bhawana Shrestha, among others, has increased public frustration toward Nepal’s oldest and largest party. The unjust suspension based on an electoral issue from three years ago—now surfacing ahead of the 15th General Convention and national elections—reveals silent acceptance of factional and opportunistic tendencies within the party.
The letter further expresses serious concern that the party's decision was influenced by personal interests and power hunger, rather than being based on democratic process and impartial investigation.
Opposing the disciplinary action, the letter states that the decision strikes at the heart of party policy, statute, and democratic values. Well-wishers and various party committees have demanded that the unjust action against Krishna KC and others be immediately withdrawn, and that fair investigation and internal democracy be ensured. The action is described as biased, unfair, and a blow to the unity of the organization.
The letter strongly urges the party leadership to revise the decision immediately to preserve party unity and principles. It warns that if the decision is not corrected, the entire Congress party will be weakened, and opposition forces will be strengthened. “We stand united for justice and unity. If the decision is not rectified, there will be great harm to the district organization,” the letter concludes.
