President Paudel Highlights the Role of Nepali Diaspora in National Prosperity
Tokyo: President Ram Chandra Paudel has expressed the view that Nepalis living in Japan are making significant contributions to the Nepali economy and the country's social development. President Paudel, who is on an official visit to Japan, shared these thoughts while addressing a reception organized by the Nepali Embassy on Tuesday.
"I expect that in the coming days, you will contribute further to realizing the dream of a prosperous Nepal by utilizing the knowledge, skills, capital, and technology acquired here in your homeland," President Paudel said.
He stated that the Government of Nepal remains committed to addressing the interests, concerns, and welfare of the Nepali community engaged in various professions and activities in Japan, as well as solving any problems they may encounter.
He noted that with Nepal's adoption of a federal democratic republican system of governance, it is necessary to move forward at a high pace to fulfill the aspirations of sustainable peace, good governance, development, and prosperity.
President Paudel emphasized that effective service delivery must be guaranteed to the public by keeping transparency, accountability, participation, and the rule of law at the center of state administration.
"The demand for good governance has become even more vocal through the movements of the younger generation in Nepal.
Accordingly, to ensure the supreme interest of the people and the country's prosperity through good governance, the election for members of the House of Representatives is scheduled for the upcoming March 5 (Falgun 21). I believe that after this election, new possibilities for stability and development will open up in the country," President Paudel said.
He expressed confidence that Nepalis living abroad would play their part from their respective positions to make the upcoming election a success.
Describing the 70th anniversary of Nepal-Japan diplomatic relations as a historic moment, he mentioned that since Japan is an important and reliable development partner in Nepal's social and economic development, Nepal can further benefit from Japan's experience, knowledge, skills, and technology in many sectors, including industrial development, agriculture, hydropower, and infrastructure.
"There is great potential to attract Japanese investment in Nepal's priority sectors alongside the expansion of bilateral trade. We have already implemented legal, procedural, and institutional reforms to ease business in Nepal, attract foreign investment, and promote innovation. We are committed to providing a secure business environment for investors, and I urge you to convey this message to the investors here," President Paudel added.
He also remarked that deep socio-cultural relations inspired by the teachings of Gautam Buddha exist between Nepal and Japan, and that Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, has enhanced the attraction toward Nepal.
