September 8/9 Incident Was a Pre-planned Conspiracy: Oli
Kathmandu. CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has claimed that the incident that took place on Bhadra 23/24 (September 8/9) was a pre-planned conspiracy. Speaking at a registration renewal and expansion-motivation workshop program, Oli mentioned that while some call the incident an agitation and others call it a revolution, it was a conspiratorial, pre-planned event.
He said, "Some call the incident of Bhadra 23/24 an agitation, some call it a revolution. Those who did it are bound to call it a revolution. People even call the killing of young people a revolution. They organized criminal activities, and after eating the cucumber, they stuck the seeds on someone else's cheek to blame them—they certainly did that. But that was a conspiratorial, pre-planned event."
Oli also claimed that the summary of the National Human Rights Commission's report mentioned that the Bhadra 23/24 incident was pre-planned and sponsored. He said, "This is not just my statement. In the summary of the National Human Rights Commission's report, it is mentioned that the incident of Bhadra 23/24 was a pre-planned conspiracy and a sponsored event."
He stated that at that time, the UML-led government was in a strong position based on constitutional, democratic, and popular mandate. He claimed that despite various attempts to remove the government, which was elected with an overwhelming majority by the people, through constitutional, legal, and parliamentary processes, those attempts were unsuccessful.
"That reality and conspiracy were indeed against us, but we were in a strong position constitutionally and democratically. We were a majority government elected by the people," he said. "That government was a government with an overwhelming majority. Attempts were made multiple times to overthrow and destroy that government through constitutional, legal, and parliamentary means. That was not possible. When that was not possible, a conspiracy was hatched to displace that government through unconstitutional and criminal paths."
