Prime Minister Karki Addresses Pokhara University Graduates

Pokhara. The 21st convocation ceremony of Pokhara University was held in Pokhara today. During the ceremony, Prime Minister and University Chancellor Sushila Karki called upon the graduating students to contribute actively to nation-building.

Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Karki mentioned that convocation is not just the formal conclusion of an academic journey but a new and significant starting point in life. She stated that youths who have attained higher education should not limit their knowledge and skills to personal advancement alone but should utilize them for the prosperity of the nation and society.

Highlighting the need for skilled, honest, and responsible manpower for the country's development and prosperity, Prime Minister Karki expressed the view that priority should be given to innovation, entrepreneurship, and research-based education.

Suggesting that youths adapt to new technologies to remain competitive and capable in the changing global environment, she said that universities should provide contemporary, practical, and employment-oriented education.

She mentioned that the large number of youths going abroad immediately after completing their studies is a matter of concern and emphasized the need for collaboration between universities, the government, and the private sector to create an environment for opportunities within the country. She stressed that the curriculum and teaching methods should be oriented toward entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

Prime Minister Karki noted that discipline, hard work, and human values are the foundations of long-term success and urged the graduating students to move forward with positive thinking, integrity, and a sense of responsibility.

Additionally, she called for active participation in the upcoming elections for the strengthening of democracy, promotion of good governance, and the building of a corruption-free nation. The ceremony saw a significant presence of university officials, professors, parents, and students.
