"Country First": KP Sharma Oli Outlines CPN-UML’s Vision for Nepal
Kathmandu. CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has expressed his views by placing the country's independence, democracy, and prosperity as top priorities. Speaking at the unveiling of the CPN-UML manifesto, he mentioned that the country is the first priority. Clarifying that the country's land, independent democracy, constitution, self-respect, peace, and order are above all else, he stated that no other subject can be more important than these.
He said, "In our priority, the country comes first. The country's land and independent democracy, the constitution, the country's self-respect, peace, and order are above everything else; there is nothing else. We are in favor of construction. We are not in favor of provocation. We are the protectors of independence and sovereignty. We want to return a society living in fear toward peace and order. We are far from thoughtless and directionless stunts. Our destination is clear: Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali."
He stated that his party is in favor of construction and remains away from the politics of provocation. Mentioning that they stand as protectors of independence and sovereignty, he pledged to return a society living in fear to peace and order. Claiming to be away from thoughtless and directionless stunts, he said the party's destination is "Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali."
Chairman Oli also shared the view that the country was not built through conflict between generations and that conflict will not build the country. Mentioning that the energy of the youth is necessary for nation-building, he said that with passion, dreams, and courage, even difficult mountains can be climbed. However, he added that the vision, wisdom, restraint, and guidance of the experienced generation are also indispensable.
Referring to youth as "fire" and experience as "light," he said that fire needs direction and light needs energy. He argued that the future of the country will become bright only through the combination of both "fire and light."
He said, "This country was not built by conflict between generations. It neither gets built nor functions through conflict. Youth energy is needed to build the country. With that passion, that dream, and that courage, even difficult mountains can be climbed.
But at the same time, the vision of the experienced generation is also needed. That wisdom, that restraint, and guidance provide support when the youth falter. Youth is fire, but fire needs direction; otherwise, that same fire burns. Experience is light. But light also needs energy; otherwise, the light itself goes out. The future of this country will be bright only when 'fire and light' both come together."
Mentioning that politics is a medium to connect, unite, and move forward with all generations, he claimed that the upcoming election is not about a generational gap but a referendum between those who build the country and those who destroy it. Additionally, he stated that this election is a struggle between national betrayal and self-respect.
